Playing Up Policy

The North Highlands Antelope Youth Soccer League is aware that parents occasionally request that their players “play up” in an older age group. This request is often based on a desire for increased competition, or to play on the same team as an older sibling/friend. As a youth soccer league, we also recognize the increased risks associated with players playing against more physically developed players with potentially higher levels of skill. The risks are both the player’s physical health and safety, as well as the player’s emotional well-being.

Based on these risks, it is NHAYSL’s policy not to allow a player to “play up” – play in an age group above their chronological age. All players will play in the appropriate age division as designated by the US Soccer Age Matrix.
